We are now in London after a delayed flight from Dublin. Taxi fare from airport to our hotel was a prohibitive $A165.00!!! Thus a search for an ATM for more cash, because the driver's credit card machine was not working??!!
We are missing Ireland already - the Irish accent, friendliness, fun-loving attitude to life, and their music and dancing.
Our hotel here in England leaves much to be desired so far. There is no space in our room for suitcases, not even on the floor. We have only the bed to open the cases to manage our clothes.
This is the first hotel that has charged for WIFI. They want to charge £10 per day for access. Breakfast does not start until 7.00 am, on Monday we need to depart for our day tour at 7.00 am so they have agreed to make us a take away breakfast. We have a clean bathroom, although it is very tiny. Dining room and bar areas are very upmarket and nicely decorated. Enough seating for about 200 but only 6 people were there for dinner tonight. Something amiss here, plenty of staff, meal was excellent but nobody to enjoy it.
This is the Wellington Grange Hotel in Westminster. Nice area, hotel good, but staff not as friendly as the old pubs and castles we stayed in throughout Ireland.
